WHAT YOU WILL NEED IN ORDER TO HAVE YOUR DOCUMENT NOTARIZED
1. Driver’s License, Senior State ID, or a Passport – they cannot be expired. (Very few other IDs are acceptable.)
2. Current notarial wording is available on The Secretary of State of CA’s web site: http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/acknowledgment.htm http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/jurat.htm (Notary Public’s generally bring certificates with them, in case the wording is not included on the document to be signed.)
3. Document should be completely filled out, no blank spaces to be filled in later (except for the signature, and Notarial wording section).
4. Document usually should be signed in front of Notary Public.
5. Signer must be mentally capable, and demonstrate that she or he understands the significance of the document she or he will sign.
6. Time – It takes about 7 minutes per signature to prepare a certificate and Notary journal entry.
